I am James’ mum

(depicting early grief, struggles, acceptance, miscommunication, and misunderstanding, now further educated, I am still angry)

I won’t listen

I won’t stop

I won’t hear

That he ‘is not’

That he ‘has not’

Or he cannot.

I’ll take a breath,

Don’t misconstrue,

I’m no less cognitive

Than you.

I heed the help,

But you cannot know

How the day to day,

Takes it’s toll.

Please pause a moment,

As you go

Prolonging your advice,

Please pause a moment,

To really share our life,

Please pause a moment,

Look in my eyes.

I am James’ mum.
